Anaesthesia for the "Water-works" Surgery

The most common procedures on the 'water works' are crystocopy and TURP (Trans Erethral Resection of Prostate). These procedures are done using a telescope inserted through the urethra.

Other procedures include those on the bladder, ureters or kidneys, and also procedures on the male prostate gland. These procedures may be done open, through a surgical incision (cut) or some may be done laparoscopically (keyhole). This decision is made by your surgeon. For all these procedures a full general anaesthetic is required.
